Executives
Orville Thompson – Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder
After graduating with honors from the University of Washington, Orville had planned to attend graduate school to become a history professor. Like many, he found his initial dream sidetracked while he went to work to support a growing family. Formal graduate school was replaced with years of experience developing one of the largest specialty retail companies in the West, selling products through state fairs, trade shows, mall kiosks and direct response television commercials.
In 2004, Orville purchased the Scentsy product line, loading the inventory into the back of a Suburban and moving it to a 40-foot ocean shipping container on his sheep farm in suburban Boise, Idaho.
At the insistence of his wife, Orville attended his first DSA meeting in New Orleans in 2004 and fell in love with the direct selling industry. He returned to Idaho and, with his wife at his side and his children playing at his feet, set to work building an industry-leading company.
As founder and CEO of Scentsy, Inc., Orville has guided the family-owned company to a national company growing 300 percent annually with more than 40,000 independent Consultants in North America, Puerto Rico and Guam.
His philosophies on contribution and compensation are guiding the direct selling industry in new directions. Orville is chairman of the Member Services Committee in the Direct Selling Association (DSA).
When time allows, Orville enjoys golfing, reading, eating pie and teaching a little history to those who will listen.
Heidi Thompson – Executive Vice President and Co-founder
Heidi has worked tirelessly alongside her husband Orville from day one to build a thriving enterprise and to create a family-friendly business that warms the heart, enlivens the senses, and inspires the soul. Heidi plays a primary role in Consultant training and in selecting the fragrances and decorative candle warmers that make Scentsy parties so memorable. As one of Scentsy’s top Consultants, Heidi exemplifies the sweet success Scentsy has to offer.
